The Store Hotel Oxford

The Store Hotel project involves the refurbishment and extension of the Boswell & Co. department store in the centre of Oxford City into a 4 star boutique hotel, featuring 101 guestrooms, restaurant, bar, spa/gym and rooftop bar. The site has two prominent facades on Broad Street and Cornmarket Street and is positioned at the heart of Oxford central city and university conservation area.

The project’s unique setting presented some significant challenges, particularly around locating external plant (air source heat pumps) within the planning parameters, and distributing services around the existing structure. Wallace Whittle provided full MEP, energy, and vertical transportation design services to RIBA stage 3, and construction support beyond stage 3.
